By Swarnali Goswami (TNI Kolkata) ~ Edited By R. Subrata (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Gairkata, 27th February, 2016: A two-day workshop started from yesterday i.e. 27th February 2016 titled ‘Katha Koli’ at The Old House, Alexandra Court, Kolkata. The main organizer was OGLAM (Organization to Give Life a Meaning) along with the Arshinagar Project. The workshop is targeted towards the new age generation about interdisciplinary storytelling. The workshop was conducted by eminent theater director Mr. Janardhan Ghosh. The main highlighting factor in the workshop is the guidance to the participants about the techniques of writing, storytelling, video art, performing art and art installations among others. There were three categories of participation in the workshop i.e. Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. ‘Katha Koli’ tried to generate a symbiotic relationship between the act of listening and the act of narration. According to the organizers, the workshop was a performance process that aimed to address the three philosophical aspects: Ecology, Gender, and Spirituality. After the workshop, certificates were given to the participants. Mr. Sudipto Dawn, one of the organizers talked with TNI and said “They are being trained to present themselves at various workshops all over India. This is a platform to improve and improvise our inner creative sense by contemporary performing & performance art.”
